Root Canals

What to Expect After a Root Canal
When many people think of root canals, they think of immense pain. While there may be some pain associated with this common procedure, root canals are more comfortable nowadays. They are much like having a tooth filled. With proper aftercare, your body can heal quickly and you'll be back to normal in just a few days. Dr. Wartofsky and associates, can help you with all your dental needs and make sure you experience minimal pain after a root canal.

Post-Treatment Care for Root Canals
After your root canal treatment, there are a few things you should keep in mind in order to expedite the healing process. First, you'll feel some numbness following the treatment. Refrain from eating anything until the numbness wears off or you risk biting your cheek, which can be painful. Try not to bite on the tooth that had the root canal done. It could cause further pain. Make sure you make an appointment to have the tooth restored.

Expect some pain and tenderness for a few days following the root canal. Pain medications such as Tylenol and Motrin should provide some relief. If you were given any medications by the dentist, make sure you take them as directed to prevent overdose. It's normal for your tooth to feel different after the procedure. However, if you experience severe pressure for more than a few days, let your dentist know.
